Do I have to support abortion-rights to go to Planned Parenthood?

Absolutely not!

Planned Parenthood offers it services to all women, regardless of their position on abortion. You do not have to be prochoice to use Planned Parenthood to obtain healthcare services.

The job of the clinic workers is to provide you with safe, confidential and accessible care. They are not there to push their political beliefs upon you. They most likely wont even mention abortion at all, unless you're there for pregnancy options counseling or you bring it up.

Not every Planned Parenthood location provides abortions, either. Look up your local Planned Parenthood clinic, and see which services they provide. Some of the clinics even allow you to request an appointment online! Very accessible.

Most people who go to Planned Parenthood are not there for an abortion. Most people are there for STD testing, contraceptives, pap smears, yearly exams, or other non-abortive health care. So don't feel strange going to Planned Parenthood- they are there because they want to help you!

  2. Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of child killing on the planet. Planned Parenthood was also founded by Margeret Sanger who was a eugenicist and a racist. She once said" we can never let the negro population know we want to exterminate them" PP still gives awards in her name to honor her. She was partners with Hitlers pre-nazi regime, how can anyone honor such a person?

Planned Parenthood should not be supported in any way.

  3. Bryan, you have taken Sanger's quote out of context. Here is some information for you to read. Basically, you've done exactly what Sanger said she did not want people to do.

Planned Parenthood's purpose is not racist or eugenic in nature, regardless of Sanger's personal beliefs. We do not attack Ford for their historical beliefs; we do not attack Yale for their eugenic research; we do not hate Winston Churchill for being a eugenicist.

Planned Parenthood's work is absolutely necessary, especially in this economy and in a country where the government cannot pass healthcare reform. It should be supported in everyway possible.

  4. Actually, Planned Parenthood isn't the largest abortion provider. Most Planned Parenthoods don't provide abortion services at all. Only 3% of the services provided are abortion-related, which amounts to about 300,000 abortions a year. They provide more contraceptives, STD treatment/screening, and cancer screenings than anything else. Most abortions are performed by private OBGYNs (the same people who treat pregnant women and help them give birth) in women's health clinics or doctor's offices, which amounts to the nearly 900,000 abortions each year that Planned Parenthood doctors don't perform. The reason anti-choicers say that Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider is because "private doctors" aren't an organization that can be easily scapegoated.

  6. I agree with you 100% and support Planned Parenthood all the way, but let's be honest here. They as a group are always trying to push their beliefs on others. Not that I have a problem with that. Nuff said.
